Dear Mike,
I’ve been noticing some strange noises and vibrations coming from my car lately, and I’m starting to suspect that my shocks and struts might be going bad. I’m not really sure what to look for to confirm my suspicions, though. Can you help me out?
Thanks,
Bridgette
Well hello there, Bridgette!
First off, I want to congratulate you on noticing those strange noises and vibrations coming from your car. So many people would just ignore the problem and just turn up their radio! But not you, Bridgette! No, you care about your car and want to keep it running smoothly.
Now, onto your suspicions. It’s very possible that your shocks and struts are going bad. You’re a smart cookie to think that might be the problem. But how do you confirm it?
Well, there are a few signs to watch out for. First, pay attention to how your car handles when you hit a bump or pothole. If it feels like you’re bouncing a lot afterwards, your shocks and/or struts might be the culprit. Another sign is if your car leans a lot when you’re turning. That could be the result of worn out shocks or struts.
As for strange noises, listen for a rattling or clunking sound when you go over bumps or rough roads. That could also be a sign of worn shocks or struts. And don’t forget about vibrations, if you feel a shaking sensation in your steering wheel or seat, that’s another clue.
Of course, the best way to confirm your suspicions is to take your car to a mechanic. And I just happen to know a great one – Urban Automotive! We can give your suspension system a thorough inspection and let you know for sure if your shocks and struts need to be replaced.
Now, I can’t stress enough how important a healthy suspension system is for your safety and the safety of your passengers. I know, I know, it’s not as glamorous as getting a new paint job or pimping out your ride with some sweet rims. But trust me, it’s just as important (and a lot cheaper, too!).
So, don’t be like those people who ignore their suspension problems. Pay attention, take action, and always be confident in the knowledge that Urban Automotive is here to help you keep your car running smoothly and safely.
Keep on truckin’,
Mike Urban
